Gold's Gym Opens First HYROX Performance Center in North America

Dallas location marks fitness racing pioneer's expansion into dedicated training facilities

Gold's Gym is doubling down on the fitness racing boom. The legacy brand has partnered with HYROX to launch North America's first dedicated HYROX Performance Center at its Little Elm location in Dallas, bringing specialized training for the rapidly growing sport to American athletes.

The move positions Gold's Gym as the first major U.S. fitness chain to embrace HYROX's unique training methodology. The center will feature official competition equipment, certified coaches, and programs designed around HYROX's signature format of eight rounds alternating between 1-kilometer runs and functional fitness challenges.

HYROX has emerged as one of the fastest-growing fitness competitions globally, attracting athletes from diverse backgrounds to its accessible yet demanding races. The sport combines endurance running with functional movements like sled pushes, burpee broad jumps, and farmers carries, creating what organizers call "the sport of fitness racing."

"For over 60 years, Gold's Gym has defined strength. HYROX represents the next evolution where strength meets performance," said Danny Waggoner, Co-CEO of Gold's Gym. "As the first national fitness brand in the U.S. to launch this concept in Dallas, we're excited to bring it to more Gold's Gym locations soon."

The partnership signals both brands' ambitions to capitalize on the growing appetite for competitive fitness beyond traditional bodybuilding and group fitness classes. HYROX was recently named to Time magazine's list of Most Influential Companies for 2024, reflecting its rapid global expansion and cultural impact.

The Dallas facility will serve as a proving ground for the concept before potential expansion across Gold's Gym's network of nearly 700 locations worldwide. The center includes dedicated training zones with official equipment, specialized group classes, workshops led by elite athletes, and programming for both seasoned competitors and newcomers to fitness racing.

Douglas Gremmen, Chief Growth Officer of 365 at HYROX, emphasized the strategic importance of dedicated training facilities. "As we continue to grow HYROX on a global scale, we believe developing exceptional training and coaching facilities is key to the long-term success of the sport," Gremmen said.

The partnership also represents a broader shift for Gold's Gym parent company RSG Group, which has been expanding beyond traditional gym models. RSG Group executive Jörg Fockenberg called the HYROX deal "a first step" with more partnerships planned across the company's portfolio.

Gold's Gym has been working to modernize its brand while maintaining its reputation as a serious training destination. The HYROX partnership allows the chain to tap into the competitive fitness trend without abandoning its strength-focused identity.

The Little Elm center will host its grand opening event soon, with plans to serve as a template for additional locations across North America as HYROX continues its rapid expansion in the region.
